The Bachelor of Arts (BA) program offers a comprehensive liberal arts curriculum and a foundation in psychology that allows for the application of psychology to bachelor's level careers in industry, government, and nonprofit agencies. The program also provides the basic knowledge and skills for Students to seek further education in psychology and related fields.
Northcentral's affordable online bachelor's in psychology program will introduce Students to the field of psychology and behavioral studies, including basic understanding of human behavior and covering the fundamental bodies of theoretical and applied psychology. Students will integrate formal academic studies with personal experiences so that learning will be meaningful, personalized and relevant to personal and professional needs.
ObjectivesThe objectives for the online Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree program (BA-Psy) are to:
1. Provide Students with a foundation in the liberal arts. 2. Introduce Students to the field of psychology and behavioral studies.
3. Familiarize Students with the fundamental bodies of theoretical and applied knowledge of psychology.
4. Provide Students with a basic understanding of human behavior to better understand themselves and their relationships with others.
5. Enable Students to integrate formal academic learning with personal experiences so that learning is meaningful and personalized, relating to personal and/or professional needs.
6. Expose Students to the diversity of the global environment.
To meet these learning objectives, Students are required to satisfy courses in the following three areas: Psychology Fundamental Courses, General Education Courses, Psychology Elective Courses, and General Elective Courses.
Requirements The Bachelor’s of Psychology degree requires a total of 120 semester credits.
• A minimum of 30 credits of instruction must be completed through the University.
• A minimum of 39 credits must be in general education with requirements in several specified areas. • A minimum of 42 credits in the Psychology program area with 15 of those credits in the required core courses.
• Cumulative grade point average of "C", 2.0, or higher.
The University may accept a maximum of 90 lower and upper division semester credit hours in transfer toward the bachelor’s degree for coursework completed at a regionally accredited college or university with a grade of "C" or better.
