Electronic Commerce Specialization

This specialization provides practical skills and leadership approaches for conducting business on the Internet and/or the World Wide Web. This specialization focuses on analysis and business application of electronic and web-based commerce strategies for electronic commerce applications and marketing modalities needed to develop competent web-based business entities. Learners will complete a final written research project, demonstrating the ability to conduct an investigation on a workplace problem, identify an area for intervention, critique, justify, and recommend a plan of preventative action.

ECM7000-8E-Commerce Back to BasicsThis Doctoral-level course focuses on the increasing presence of E-Commerce and technology associated with various digital advances in the industry. Learners will assess the impact of E-Commerce on virtual training and communications, the retail and service industry, global communities, types of business models, internet security, and digital media.
BTM7102-8Business Research Methodology This Doctoral level course provides students with an overview of the research process, and an opportunity to learn about business research methodology and the components of a dissertation. The course will also provide the student with the opportunity to identify and develop a research topic, define a research problem, describe the purpose of the research study, and establish associated research question(s). The student will prepare a Topic Paper and a preliminary annotated bibliography for the dissertation topic in the Signature Assignment.
ECM7006-8Supply Chain Management and Design Learners in this course will learn how to apply evolving methods in a closely integrated process of product distribution and supply chain management using the power and speed of electronic connectivity. The identified concepts can be applied to the activities of businesses, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Learners will also explore how information technology can be used to enhance customer value in the supply chain.
BTM7103-8Research DesignIn this course, the student acquires the basic skills necessary for the interpretation and application of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research. The student will examine the formal research process carefully, with an emphasis on practical applications and skill development. Critical concepts and principles intrinsic to research paradigms, study designs, and methods of inquiry are presented to empower the student’s ability to formulate and respond to research questions. ECM7007-8E-Commerce Marketing for Today’s Businesses and Consumers Learners in this Doctoral level course will develop the framework needed for marketing on the Internet. The Internet will be studied and utilized as a content resource, channel resource, and communication resource for marketing “business to business” and “business to consumer” relationship exchanges. Learners will also determine Internet effects on strategy development planning and implementation. Learners will be given the opportunity to design customer focused E-Commerce interfaces and the corresponding marketing programs.
ECM7009-8Promotion of your Internet Website With the rapid expansion on Internet websites there are new and innovative Internet based tools being used to generate traffic to a business website. The Learner will explore strategic search engine techniques and methods to enhance website traffic. A variety of learning methods, including analyzing studies on websites and Internet search tools will prepare Learners with website marketing skills. ECM7009 will help Learners assess the tools and methods in order to promote a strategic plan that a company can use to generate traffic to their website.
BTM7106-8Quantitative Research DesignThis course provides students with the skills essential for designing experimental, quasi-experiment, and survey studies; analyzing the data collected in these studies, and interpreting the results of data analyses. Students will explore designs and statistical techniques to use with their envisioned dissertation research.
ECM7012-8Mobile E-CommerceThis doctoral level course focuses on advances of mobile platforms within the study of E-Commerce. Learners will assess the impact of mobile platforms on E-Commerce, the mobile E-Commerce value chain, the impact of mobile platforms on business models and consumer preferences, security considerations for E-Commerce, and the behavior and structure of virtual communities using E-Commerce.
BTM7109-8Planning Dissertation Research in BusinessStudents in this course will begin the process of writing a dissertation for a research or professional doctorate. The course will address the University dissertation process and aids to successfully complete a dissertation, including self-care and time management.
